馬林魚陣中最適合出征全壘打大賽的球員是誰？打擊教練邦茲（Barry Bonds）的推薦人選是鈴木一朗，儘管今年全壘打數還掛蛋，但邦茲鐵口直斷如果一朗參賽，他將會輕鬆贏得冠軍。
邦茲在接受日本媒體訪問時提到，「一朗每天在打擊練習時所敲的全壘打數量，都比其他隊友更多。」連「怪力男」史丹頓（Giancarlo Stanton）和歐蘇納（Marcell Ozuna）都比不過他。
邦茲曾告訴一朗，「你應該停止在練習時敲全壘打」，一朗反問他為什麼，而邦茲解釋：「因為你正在把這些全壘打浪費在打擊練習上，我們更希望你可以在比賽時開轟。」
邦茲表示，「我想應該是因為他在打擊練習時把全壘打打完了，所以才會在比賽中累積那麼多安打吧！」一朗生涯已累積2990支安打，其中113支是全壘打，近3季僅2轟，本季首轟還沒出爐。
